Taken with a rubbish camera, (a bad workman always blames his tools!). This Partisan Memorial to the North of Mostar is in a real sorry state. on return after my first visit I was told never to go there alone as it was the unofficial hangout of the local Croat Nazi Party!
Its well worth a look here at some really great photography of other Partisan Monuments throughout former Yugoslavia. http://www.flickr.com/groups/907256@N24/
Architects were employed by Tito, post breakaway from the Soviet Union, to design and build what are in my eyes some of the most beautiful monuments I have ever seen.
It is sad to think of the Partisans who laid down their lives to protect their land from the invading military machine of Germany during the second world war. I am even more saddened that this monument seems to have escaped any hope of rescue in the near future due to dwindling Unesco finances being concentrated on the Stari Most and the old town, and the Political instability of Boznia Herzegovina changing government every nine months.
